Laos Wedding Customs

A Laos wedding is a unique celebration, full of various rich and interesting traditions. Out of food and drink to dancing and fun, there is much that is certainly bound to make any visitor towards the country feel here at home.

A marriage wedding may be a special occasion in a couple’s lives, when they claim I do and commit to their very own future collectively. It’s a chance for all of the family and friends to come together to guide them and remember their fresh lives.

Traditionally, a Laos wedding party is split up into two parts: the feast day and the reception. The service takes place with the bride’s home, when close relatives and friends come together, while the reception where more friends are invited is in a hotel, a restaurant or hall that could keep more persons.

When needed of the wedding party, the bride and groom receive dressed up in traditional Lao outfits – a Sink (Lao skirt) for the star of the wedding and a silk Salong for the groom. They likewise have their hair linked in a beautiful way with great design.

The wedding day morning starts with a ritual called Haih Khun Maak which means “parade from the groom’s home for the bride’s house”. This is a party and a very festive celebration. The march starts at the groom’s home and ends close to the bride’s property, with vocal singing and dance along the international dating for chinese way.

After the feast day, a habit called Sou Khuane is performed. This is a spirit-enhancing service that both the groom and bride perform. They will light up a dagger and candles, addressing the family spirits of both households. They then bring a white-colored string which in turn symbolizes both the families’ state of mind becoming one.
